Cleaned

The play “The Clean House” by the American writer Sara Ruhl is a multidimensional, extremely funny, but also touching story. The action of this comedy-drama takes place in modern America, on the shore of the ocean, in the state of Connecticut.

The protagonists of the drama are: Lane and Charles — a marriage of two doctors, Virginia — Lane's unpredictable sister, Matilda — their witty domestic helper from Brazil, and Dr. Charles' mysterious, charismatic patient — Anna.

The author masterfully weaves together the fate of five heroes, thrown by violent - “like thunder from the bright sky” twists of fate. Love and Death, Loss and Redemption, Despair and Purification with a dose of exquisite humor create a colorful and suspenseful kaleidoscope.

“Tidy up” is also a story about the complicated nature of women, about their even unusual, archetypal bond. We have as many as four female characters; four, perfectly sketched by the author differentiated portraits of women.

In the face of danger, harm, injustice, death, women unite and are able to rise above individual, selfish aspirations. They become a community.

Also interesting is the clash of two different cultures, North and South America, with their peculiar customs, rituals and music.
