SERIOUSLY FRIVOLOUS — NEW YEAR'S EVE GALA

Classics can be quite unpredictable and do not always have to speak in an exclusively uplifting tone. Especially when it comes to artists with a rather unobvious view of music and “sanctified” stage conventions. It turns out that — with their sense of humor and distance to themselves combined with their musical erudition — the classics can also: joke about their own conventions, go against the grain, flirt, bully and, above all, surprise and put you in the perfect mood.

The New Year's Eve gala with Waldemar Malicki is an invitation to an evening elegant and rebellious at the same time; full of artistry, but also controlled chaos, sparkling with a whole palette of musical nuances, including jokes and parodies. So there will be a preview of the great adventure of Wilhelm Tell, the Viennese splendor of the Straussian Kaiser-Walzer, the winter grace of the Skaters and the explosive March of Radetzky. Along the way, musical worlds outside the canon of classics will also flare up - jazz melancholy, Broadway glamor, New York pulse, Iberian temperament, spicy Argentine tango nuevo and danced Puerto Rican fiesta.

The dramaturgy of this special evening will be complemented by sketches by the piano virtuoso, anecdotes and precise punctuation by Waldemar Malicki, who will invite the audience to play together in musical associations.

If we say goodbye to the old year — then with concert momentum, in a bubbly mood and in excellent company!
