Originally from the suburbs of Reims, French intellectual Didier Eribon fled to Paris at a young age to start a life of his own. The trip allowed him to explore his homosexual identity, but it did not allow him to get rid of the shame associated with his working-class background. The death of his father and his return to his homeland led Eribon to a painful confrontation with the past, which he described in his excellent bestselling book Return to Reims. Inspired by her, the play directed by Katarzyna Kalwat is in the form of a television talk show with the participation of Eribon, in which Jacek Monday plays. The recorded performance shows the mechanisms of social change described in the book and raises the question of their relevance.
