Move to a time when art influenced history and love influenced politics. Experience the vicissitudes of the mysterious relationship between Tamara Lempicka and Gabriel D'Annuzio, full of conflicting emotions and unexpected consequences. The show also tells about the cult hit STUDIO from the 90s, the legendary performance “Tamara”, which was the first “capitalist show” in Poland, to which the queues stretched endlessly, and the event was sponsored by Pewex.
Cezary Tomaszewski returns to one of the most legendary performances in the history of the Studio Theatre, originally staged in 1990 “Tamara”. And he finds her dark secret, hidden under the surface of an attractive plot, the story of the birth of fascism.
The year 1919 Gabriele D'Annunzio, together with the veterans of the First World War, occupies Rijeka and for just over a year establishes the independent Regency of Carnaro. This gesture is a response to the unrealized aspirations of the Italians of the region, who let the soldier poet into the city and call him their Il Comendante. The free city of Fiume becomes a state whose constitution assumes the organization of social life through music, the days begin with poetry readings from the balcony, the inhabitants call themselves pirates, and as a result black shirts with dead skulls come into fashion.
1927: Polish painter Tamara Lempicka visits D'Annunzio in his estate — Vittoriale degli Italiani — given to him by Benito Mussolini. Conducting a passionate correspondence with Tamara, the poet hopes for a closer meeting. However, as one of the many lovers of Il Comendante — Aelis Mazoyer, documents, Lempicka does not succumb to the artist's courtship.
