Thoughts of Thought is a series of philosophical lectures and debates on the most important issues shaping our present and shaping our immediate future. During the first meeting, Andrzej Leder will talk about the ideas, desires and social emotions that govern Polish society today, influencing both politics and cultural disputes. Together we will consider what kind of world Poles want today, why they so often look for his image in the past and how this affects the reality around us. After the lecture, there will be a conversation, which will be led by the curator of the series Rzeczenie Mateusz Falkowski.
Today, the Polish imagination is ruled by two retrotopes, to use the great concept of Zygmunt Bauman. They mark the axis of the political conflict, which for at least twenty years has been distributing political emotions and behaviors, translating into a party system as well as a culture war waged by Poles. But what determines the possibility of such an unequivocal hegemony of retrotopia in the imaginarium? And what desires are hidden behind them? Finally, what is the deep affective underpinning that is associated with them?
