dir. Tonislav Hristov, Finland, Bulgaria, Sweden, Norway 2025, 85'
Hristov's document exposes the mechanisms of action of the far right financed by the Kremlin. Conspiracy theories, manipulation of facts and images, buying up existing Facebook groups and feeding them with trolls — these are just some of the practices in the media that are intensifying especially before the parliamentary elections and are closely linked to authoritarian rule. Bulgarian activists and investigative journalists take an unequal fight against populism and disinformation, often balancing on the verge of their own safety. How to find the truth in a time when everything can be it?
After the film, at 7.30 pm, the organizers invite you to a meeting entitled “Can I feel safe in the digital world?” with the Panoptykon Foundation, one of the few organizations in Poland dedicated to monitoring the state that controls us: citizens. It checks whether services exceed their competence, how large companies (Big Tech) collect and use user data and how artificial intelligence is trained. They write about themselves: “We want a world where new technologies serve society, and each and every one of us can choose whether and how we use them. We want a world where we have control over who knows what about us, and we can make conscious decisions about our lives. We expose abuses, we fight for the law that protects freedom and privacy. We show you how to live consciously in a digital world.”
