We live in an age of consumption, which instead of satisfying our needs has become a way of life. We all play in this show and we don't really know if we can get off the stage yet. We will not reverse the course of events, but it may be worth listening to the voices of people who have overcome passivity and gone beyond the scheme.
Luiza and Łukasz left the city and settled in an old hut on the top of the mountain. Siwy, an activist from the Wild Carpathians Initiative, fights for the preservation of the remains of the natural forest in the south of Poland. Danka and Lukas create a play with which they want to ignite a discussion about intercultural dialogue. These are people who have given up the comforts of the developed world — their life is a return to simplicity, a lack of mediation, a rejection of the consumption paradigm.
“Real People” is a subtle attempt to face the question of the meaning of an individual struggle against established rules, to take the difficult path of being outside the schemes. It is a question of motivations and sources of inner strength to overcome passivity. After all, this is a question about the condition of the world today.
For a year and a half, the filmmakers followed the characters, following their actions and listening carefully to their voices.
After the screening, we invite you to meet the creators and heroes of the film. The meeting will be hosted by Hanna Grabowska-Macioszek.
