Lauren Martin is a London-based Scottish music journalist and editor; she has worked for platforms such as RBMA and DJ Mag. On Unsound, she will talk about the book “Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep”, which she published with Velocity Press this summer. This is the first book on the history of dubstep — a story about the origins of this British electronic music genre. It consists of extensive interviews with twenty-eight key artists and industry figures for this scene, as well as unique photographs and visual treats from artistx and fotograx. During the presentation, Lauren will talk about archiving music and spoken history, the sound of dubstep, its culture and aesthetics, as well as what modern experimental electronic music can still learn from the genre.
