About the event

Who said ghosts don't have a sense of humor? Or that death is the end rather than the beginning of awkward family conversations? Take this situation as an example: you are in, as it seems to you, a fairly average house in an American suburb. Someone celebrates a birthday here today, someone announces important decisions and plans for the future, there are long-unseen guests and a lot of fuss. It's like nothing like that. And yet.

She died 11 months earlier Mom returns as a ghost on her husband's 60th birthday. On top of that, he returns with a mission. But she herself does not quite know what to rely on. She knows that the eldest daughter, who is the only one who can hear her voice, can help with the task. Except that the daughter is only here for a moment and only because that was the condition of the court and the therapist. If he does not get the coveted signature, he will go to prison, and if he does, he will sew himself up for a long time digging a well in Somalia.

Then the spirit of the Mother “will not earn its wings” and will be stuck forever in “Lutheran purgatory”, no one will discover the secrets that have the power to change everything, will not fix what has broken in family relationships over the years and will not come to terms with the past. Classic pat.

Phil Olson's “The Gift” (translated by Elżbieta Woźniak) is a humorous and HEART-filled story about a family that, although it can often lead to madness, becomes the surest refuge at the most important moments. In this story, funny dialogues and surprising twists are intertwined with the warmth that remains with the viewer long after leaving the theater.

The play premiered in Los Angeles in 2013 and has since been staged successfully on many stages around the world, garnering rave reviews not only for its brilliant sense of humor and ease of building stories about the difficult, but also for the wisdom and tenderness hidden under their cloak.
