The Princess on the Pea - a PixiBallet

The prince embarks on a long journey in search of the perfect princess, but it is not easy to find a princess with real feelings who dares to be herself. He has to meet three very strange princesses before suddenly knocking on the door of his own castle.

The Princess on the Pea is a poetic fairy tale as in this PixiBallet is told through dance and movement completely without the use of words. The performance invites children and their adults into a baroque fairy-tale world filled with powders, wigs and a mysterious conductor who may have a finger in the game.

In the Royal Theatre's PIXI performances, the little ones in the family can get a fun and unpretentious introduction to the theatre's classical arts; opera, acting, ballet and concert. PixiBallet is a ballet in mini format made and told to children only via dance and movement to musical excerpts from well-known ballet performances.

The Princess on the Pea is danced to music from the classical ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, among others.
