The biography of Ryszard J. can show human weaknesses and give an opportunity to consider at what cost Poland has developed over the past half century. The title character is an ambiguous character, difficult to evaluate and eludes easy categorization. The atmosphere of lethargy, hopelessness and poverty that accompanied people for most of the Professor's life influenced our heroes, drove them to greed and greed, to make risky decisions.
