Image Projections (4-6 years)

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to creative family workshops that accompany the exhibition “You are at the heart of change. Surrealism and Anti-Fascism.”

What makes paintings come to life on the wall? How were surrealists inspired by ways of making and displaying images older than film, such as the camera obscura or the magic lantern? We will try to answer these questions together during our meeting.

What are we gonna do?

We will start with a visit to the exhibition. We will take a look at the works of Óscar Domínguez and Francesca and Stefan Themerson. Together we will learn about the unusual artistic techniques that these artists used in their work.

In the practical part, both of these threads will be joined by glass - the perfect surface on which to paint. At the same time, it is a material that beautifully transmits light and allows the projection of the image. We will reach for the jars and conjure up our own luminous lanterns out of them!
