Project Lem. RGG & Robert Więckiewicz. FMZ

“RGG & Robert Więckiewicz Planet LEM” is a special project inspired by the work of Stanisław Lem - writer, futurologist, philosopher and essayist, absolute legend of science fiction literature. The starting point here are excerpts from Lem's texts, read by Robert Więckiewicz, from the famous novel “Solaris”.

The improvised nature of the trio's music coexists here on an equal footing with the expression of an excellent actor, who enters the literary world of Lem with proper grace, revealing in the presented passages the characteristic language of the writer, full of erudition, perspicacity, irony, grotesque and black humor. The collision of two worlds - the musical and the acting - causes the jointly invented concept to acquire at times a performative character, where the value is openness and ambiguity. There is no dissonance here, there is no confusion of contexts - the whole is marked by executive competence, intelligence and emotionality forming an improvised tribute to Stanisław Lem.

In the palette of a dozen jazz piano trios recognized in the country, the RGG band occupies a special position. Formed in 2001, the ensemble has been active since 2013: Łukasz Ojdana (piano), Maciej Garbowski (double bass), Krzysztof Gradziuk (drums). All three are graduates of the Jazz Institute of the Academy of Music in Katowice. They are musicians with considerable experience, with achievements that are confirmed by awards, distinctions and scholarships. Their interests extend far beyond jazz and beyond music, they are artists with a unique, rare awareness of what they are doing and what they are aiming for. They are clearly situated in the space not only of jazz, but also of contemporary improvised music of European provenance.
