The ensemble was founded in 1986, at the Zakładowy Dom Kultury HiL on the initiative of Romana Krzemeń. Since 1990 he has been working at the Mieczysław Karłowicz School of Music in Krakow. At the first concert of the band, the result of the competition was the name “Promyki Krakowa”.
During the 40 years of artistic activity of the Ensemble, we promoted Kraków and Poland extensively. We performed in 60 cities in 33 countries of Europe and Asia and in 70 cities of Poland.
We actively participated in events important for Poles, including being the only artistic group from Poland that has performed every year during the anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Arnhem in the Netherlands for more than 30 years. We were at the anniversary celebrations at Monte Casino, Loreto, Bologna, Ancona in Italy and at Falaise in France.
We performed in the Vatican in front of Pope John Paul II on the occasion of the 20th and 25th anniversary of his pontificate.
We played in London at the Polish Social and Cultural Centre on the occasion of the 89th anniversary of the Defence of Lviv, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland Ryszard Kaczorowski, his wife Karolina and Michał, grandson of General Stanisław Sosabowski.
We played with great success in Hanover in the Polish Pavilion during the famous EXPO 2000 International Fair.
On May 1, 2004 we gave a concert in Kleve, Germany on the occasion of Poland's accession to the European Union. After this concert we had reviews in the press “Phenomenon of the Polish Spirit”.
We also had the honour of speaking at the European Parliament in Brussels on the occasion of the conclusion of the summer session of Parliament in 2015.
As the only band from Europe, “Promyki Krakowa” performed at the Asian Nations Day in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2023 and 2024.
The idea of the band is to promote Polish classical music, as well as patriotic, border and folk songs. We wish to perform forgotten pieces and songs and thus create connections between generations in terms of tradition and culture.
During the concert, the 60th anniversary of the creative work of Romana Krzemień, who has been creating the ensemble for 40 years, will be celebrated.
