The masterful post-punk quartet Protomartyr gives concert in The Pump
Detroit group Protomartyr are set to take on the Pump House with their alluring dark rock songs on February 24, 2027.
When it comes to making alluringly obscure postpunk, there are few bands which reach Protomartyr to the sock holders.
Since debuting their album in 2012 with the stunning “All Passion No Technique”, the Detroit group has established itself as one of the best bands of its generation when it comes to taking on the legacy of icons such as Joy Division, Wire, The Fall and The Cure.
With frayed riffs, somber bass chords and thunderous drums added to lead singer Joe Casey's grim vocals and image-making lyrics, the group creates a universe in which there's room for frustration, pain, societal criticism and poetry alike.
The discography includes six strong albums, the latest of which, “Formal Growth in the Desert”, was released in the summer of 2023 via the legendary indie label Domino (Arctic Monkeys, Sebadoh, Pavement). The album was praised by media outlets such as The Line of Best Fit, Popmatters, Uncut and NME; the latter awarded 4 out of 5 stars, calling it “an expansive, vigorous post-punk picture”.
The discography includes seven strong albums, including the latest album “Hotel Usona”, which the four-leaf band will take on their upcoming international tour. Here they hit the Pumpehuset on February 24.
