One of the most famous books of the Polish Nobel laureate, Olga Tokarczuk, is a multi-layered story, reaching in its narrative both to the most mundane and to what is written in the stars.
Janina Duszejko, the main character of this story, is a person with an extremely strong empathy, which she directs above all to the weakest who become victims of human actions — to animals. Standing on the brink of life and death, he looks at the bloody retaliation against the previous abusers. And we with her. However, are we able to assess the veracity of this relationship?
The story of a man who leaves, but is followed by moving stories, was brought to the stage of the National Theatre by Ewa Platt — a young director who made herself known to the audience as a specialist in exploring the darkness of the human soul.
The license to exhibit the work was granted by Olga Tokarczuk and Literarchia Sp. z o.o., as well as by the Association of Authors ZAiKS.
We kindly inform you that the theme of the show is about hunting, animal suffering, disease and death; the sounds of gunshots appear in the performance. In addition, profanity is used in the performance and scenes of nudity appear.
We kindly inform you that due to the non-standard layout of the stage, late viewers will not be allowed into the auditorium. Please arrive at the show a few minutes in advance.
The show is recommended for viewers from the age of 16.
