Through the Wall is a story that really happened.
In 1947, 27-year-old Wiesława Pajdak was arrested and sent to the communist prison on Rakowiecka. A few days later, 27-year-old Jerzy Smiechowski is sent to the same prison. One night they start a conversation through the wall using Morse code, and although it is hard to believe, the young fall in love with each other. After six years of meeting, they see each other “live” for the first time during their prison wedding.
After being released, they live together happily for 55 years. This is the story of an extraordinary encounter and the love that saved them both.
Love is born through the prison wall, in the dark times of Stalinist terror. Two young prisoners start a conversation with Morse code, which becomes their only chance to escape. A fact-based story about love that gives you the strength to survive.
