The comedy of the Spanish playwright Carles Alberola presents in a perverse and surprising way the relationship of two people who were once close to each other, their dreams, their longings, showing in a light and funny way the complexity of human nature. We rush into adulthood and do not want to grow up, we make plans thinking that we still have a lot of time, and when they knock on our door, we sneak on our toes, pretending that there is no one at home. We forget or simply do not want to remember, but the first infatuation remains with us forever.

Comedy of Handsome Girls (org. Mandibula afilada) had its Spanish premiere in 1997. The play received the Cavall Verd Award for Best Theatrical Text, awarded by the Catalan Writers' Association, as well as the Valencia Critics Award and the Turia Billboard Award.

Former lovers reunite years later to follow the path of dreams that never came true during one night. They are united by a story from the past, they share their entire adult life. Maria and Diego have not seen each other since they left for Aguas Vivas together, when they both stood on the threshold of adulthood, full of plans, dreams and prospects for the future. Today he is an unfulfilled artist, working on behalf of advertising agencies, she is planning a wedding with another. Each of them understands life in its own way and in its own way tries to face it.

Carles Alberola is a Spanish playwright, actor and director. He has more than a dozen comedies to his credit. The play “Besos” brought him fame and fame, for which he received, among others, the Prize of the Valencian Writers' Association in the category of best theatrical text. He lives and works in Valencia, where in 1994 he created the Albena Teatre, which he continues to this day. In 2003 he received the Porrot d'Honor de les Lletres Valencianes Prize for Lifetime Artistic Work, a prestigious distinction awarded to outstanding personalities of Valencian culture. He is also currently developing a television career, writing scripts and producing series.
