Silent Green presents
Psychic Liberation (PL) is a label founded in 2013, originally run by Miguel Alvariño under the title Primitive Languages as a tape and record store project in New York City. Since 2019, Nick Klein has been running it solo from the EU under the name Psychic Liberation.
The concert series of the same name takes place with changing guests.
Andrea Pensado Andrea Pensado is a sound artist, educator and concert organizer. Originally from Argentina, she continued her studies in Poland, where she studied with Bogusław Schäffer. She has lived and worked in the USA since 2002.
For her music, Pensado uses voice and hybrid electronics. Both their programming and performance are characterized by a highly intuitive approach. The interplay of performance situation, irrational use of voice and the inherent unpredictability of improvisation repeatedly leads to the discovery of unknown spaces of their own consciousness.
She performs regularly in the USA and internationally — both as a solo artist and in numerous collaborations with other musicians. Her releases have been released by Zeromoon, Pan Y Rosas Discos, Cruel Symphonies, Econore Records, Feeding Tube Records, Orb Tapes, Mutual Aid Records, Love Earth Music and Artsy Records, among others. She also organizes Sonorium, a series of experimental music concerts based in Salem, Massachusetts (USA).
HMOT Sattar Stas Shaerifulla, also known as HMOT, is an artist, composer and researcher living in Basel. In his work, he investigates how hearing shapes identity and memory.
Born and raised in Eastern Siberia and of Yılan-Bashqort descent (the “Bashkirs” of the Yılan clan), he researches the auditory nature of autochthonous cultures of North and Central Asia, in which listening and sound were historically more important than writing. Based on his own development, reconnection and reconnection with this cultural heritage, Stas is particularly concerned with how settler colonialism subjugates and distorts indigenous knowledge by reducing its socio-political function to the production of exotic museum objects — and how these dynamics can be overcome. In his artistic practice, Stas works both with traditional instruments and with computer-aided music technologies. His work includes performance, spatial sound and mixed-media installations, composition in open forms, free improvisation, speculative sound fiction, soundwalks, and other experimental formats. His main instrument is the Quray, a Bashkir flute, open at both ends, whose traditional sound he complements with electroacoustic techniques and advanced playing techniques.
bela bela (they/them) is a South Korean musician and performance artist who lives between Berlin and Prague. Bela's work uses guttural voice and feedback to create texture and resonance. Conceptually, Bela's artistic practice often adopts an autobiographical perspective that moves through personal experience, origin, and transcendence. Music and performance invite people to rethink and expand the positioning of sounds and bodies within social and cosmic contexts.
The latest album and the eponymous performance Korean Love Sonnets are dedicated to an experimental exploration of the acoustics of the guttural voice in relation to other bodies and spaces. In it, Bela discovers romance in its most immediate, physically tangible form and works with creaks, feedback and resonance to create a sound world that is simultaneously gloomy and intimate, held in suspense above the material level by seemingly inhumane tones.
