About the event

We invite you to meet the theater inspired by the culture of Nabuzha — full of local history, traditions and artistic exploration.

“Punad Buhom” is a performance based on stories, messages and beliefs flowing with the current of the Bug River. It is a show about timeless values, about imagination and about the people of the borderlands. In it we combine children's imagination, folk vision of the world, dreams, but also ordinary everyday life consisting of hard work, difficult stories and difficulties of life. Our story is also about living in a cluster, living in harmony with nature and celebrating. The show will end with the whispers of the contemporary, present, present-day river, as its history flows and will flow. The performance uses archival reports from the Ethnographic Archive of the Museum — Synagogical Complex in Włodawa.

After the performance, we invite you to talk about the Bug River, about memory, about the symbolism that flows with its current. Our guest will be the painter, Professor Stanisław Baj, and the conversation will be led by Anna Duda.

“Theatre from the End of Poland” is an amateur, youth theater group, operating at the Włodawa House of Culture. The very name of the theater is quite perverse, because we want to show that in the city such as Włodawa — the farthest from other cities in Poland, at the very border of the country, live a lot of talented and creative young people, whose way of expressing themselves is precisely theater. In the theater, we emphasize creativity, imagination and the opportunity to express ourselves and present our own ideas. The first voice belongs to the youth. It is they who produce performances at each of their stages, develop scripts, lights, scenography, create props. We often look for inspiration in local history, legends, city life at the turn of the years and nature. Often with activities we go out into the field, looking for a theatrical “stage” in the urban space.
