Who was Pythia? A fairy in a trance conveying the words of the gods. Her chaotic words were written down and arranged in verse prophecies by the priests. The phrase “to speak as Pytia” or “Pytyan answer” means a statement that is vague, mysterious and ambiguous.

About the event

Who was Pythia? A fairy in a trance conveying the words of the gods. Her chaotic words were written down and arranged in verse prophecies by the priests. The phrase “to speak as Pytia” or “Pytyan answer” means a statement that is vague, mysterious and ambiguous.

For two weeks, for two hours a day, in the Bunker Sztuki space you will be able to observe and accompany the dance artist, Kasia Witek, in her movement research work. The starting point of the work is the assumption that the body, as intelligent and deeply intuitive, can reveal answers to us where words fail. Not everything is a word.

The main theme of the project is the thought of the artist Katie Coe: “Let the moving be the solving.” Through improvisation, intuitive movement and practices bordering on somatics and working with presence, the artist explores questions — both her own and those posed by visitors to the gallery.

The course of a single intervention:

The artist will be present in the gallery space for two hours. Every meeting begins with the same gesture — writing down the question that will be faced on the move on the day. The question hangs on the board, visible to all visitors. From that moment on, movement becomes a process of thinking — a way of looking for answers where words are not enough.

Visitors can observe from the side, join the movement or leave their own question on the board — becoming part of the research. Within two hours there will be short pauses. There is no one way to be here: you can stay for a while or longer, watch in silence, or join in the movement.

Every day, a different question, a different intervention.
