When a zombie outbreak threatens a Brooklyn drag show, a chaotic crew of drag queens, club kids, and frenemies must set aside their backstage drama. Banding together to survive, they turn their distinct talents, high-octane camp, and sharp wits into deadly weapons against the hungry undead.
Queens of the Dead forms a bold, riotous addition to our Trans Awareness Programme by placing trans, non-binary, and queer performers squarely at the center of horror heroism.
Directed by Tina Romero—who injects fresh queer energy into her father George A. Romero's iconic genre legacy—the film rejects the tired trope of trans and drag figures as tragic victims or sensationalized punchlines. Instead, it celebrates radical queer joy, community solidarity, and the unapologetic power of trans and gender-nonconforming artists fighting back together—proving that in times of crisis, high camp and fierce resilience are ultimate survival tools.
