About the event

Five years before 'Titane' (2021) secured her the Golden Palm at Cannes, French Julia Ducournau's solo directorial debut 'Raw' (2016) caused horror fans around the world to close their eyes. The French coming-of-age body horror drama features sharp satire, macabre eroticism and blood-red horror.

In the film, we meet Justine, who dreams of following in her family's footsteps and starts -- like her father, mother and sister before her -- at veterinary school. However, the school has some hefty initiation rituals and there is no help to be gleaned from the sister, even when Justine's lifelong vegetarianism is challenged.

The unpleasant experience, however, gives Justine blood on the tooth. Her appetite is whetted and she gets a taste for raw meat -- not just from animals.
