Deception leads to betrayal and destruction when Siegfried is tricked into betraying Brünnhilde. When she learns of the innocence of her loved one, Brünnhilde finally returns the ring to the Rhinedaughters. She then orders Valhalla to be swallowed up by the flames. For the long-awaited finale of Wagner's epic saga, director Barrie Kosky places the sumptuous apocalyptic drama in today's era full of dream-like turbulence. Antonio Pappano, honorary conductor of the Royal Opera, returns and dedicates himself to the passionate, raptured score — including Siegfried's funeral march and Brünnhilde's electrifying sacrificial scene. The brilliant ensemble is led by Elisabet Strid, Andreas Schager and Mika Kares, who, with the full power of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera Chorus, are leading the biggest journey of this tremendous opera to its devastating end.
