About the artist:
Andrzej Wierciński
He is a graduate of the Zenon Brzewski General School of Music in Warsaw, where he studied with Professor Anna Jastrzębska-Quinn in (2010-2014). In 2019 he graduated with honors from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the piano class of Prof. Wojciech Świtała, in 2020 postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under the supervision of Prof. Pavel Gililov, and in 2024 — also with distinction — the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied as a scholarship holder of the university under the direction of the eminent pianist Norma Fisher.
He is a semi-finalist of the 18th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, during which he became famous as “a mature artist with a distinct personality characterized by an excellent technical workshop freely creating sound”. In 2019 he won the 3rd Prize at the Hong Kong International Piano Competition, and in 2022 — the 3rd Prize at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski American International Piano Competition in Los Angeles, as well as the Grand Prix of the International Music Competition “Red Maple Music Competition” in Toronto. He has also won many prizes at other prestigious piano competitions, including: the International Chopin Competition “Golden Ring” in Slovenia (1st prize), at the International Chopin Competition in Budapest (1st prize), at the International Competition in Naples “Masters Neapolitan Piano Competition” (1st prize), at the International Competition “Halina Czerz” Stefny-Stefańska In memoriam” in Poznań (3rd prize), at the International Competition in Tbilisi (5th prize and prize for the best performance of L. van Beethoven's classical sonata No. 4).
These laurels have brought the pianist many other significant awards, such as a contract with a record label in China, a series of recitals in Denmark, China and Italy, and concerts with orchestras, including the Roman Symphony Orchestra. The list of achievements is completed by the Gold Medal at the First International Music Competition in Vienna; 1st place at the International Piano Competition in Saint-Priest in France with a number of non-regulatory awards, including a record contract with the label KNS classical and a tour of European countries; Silver Medal at the Berlin International Music Competition or the Honorary Award at the Paris International Music Competition Notorious.
He participated in international master classes led by outstanding educators such as: Michel Beroff, Dmitri Alexeev, Carlo Palese, Akiko Ebi, Rafał Blechacz, Lee Kum Sing, Anna Malikova, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Andrzej Jasiński, Dang Thai Son, Tomas Ungar and Janusz Olejniczak. He also attended master classes with Andre LaPlante and Krzysztof Jabłoński at the Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary. In addition, he studied with the famous Danil Trifonov during master classes in Katowice.
He performs regularly with recitals in most European countries and on both sides of the globe, for example in the United Arab Emirates. He has also toured in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Indonesia, China and Japan. Cooperation with KAWAI and Japan Arts has led to numerous tours in Asia. A significant event in his career was the performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto in C minor Op. 37 under the baton of maestro Maciej Tworek at the National Philharmonic during the 24th edition of the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. In 2015, during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski to Japan, he performed in Tokyo Recital Chopinowski in front of, among others, the Duchess of Japan Masako Owada.
The artist has collaborated with such conductors as Alexander Liebreich, Josep Caballé Domenech, Jacek Kasprzyk, Mirosław Błaszczyk and Marek Moś. He has also collaborated with many prestigious orchestras, such as the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and the National Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw.
Andrzej Wierciński is the recipient of the Krystian Zimerman Scholarship, the Artistic Scholarship of the YAMAHA Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Artistic Scholarship of the Sinfonia Varsovia Foundation named after Franciszek Wybrańczyk.
In 2015, under the auspices of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, he released a CD with solo piano works by Fryderyk Chopin, Domenico Scarlatti and Robert Schumann.
