Kraszewski Memory Regions. Meeting with Dr. Marcin Lul

We invite you to meet Marcin Lul, author of the book “Regions of Kraszewski Memory”. This is what the meeting leader Zofia Dambek-Giallelis writes about the position:

“The author is interested in the various affinities between history and fiction, anthropology, archeology or sociology — cultivated by Kraszewski. (...) Seven dissertations combine the notion of places of memory in spatial, memorable and autobiographical terms.

And according to this systematics, the sketches were ordered: from Vilnius with its representation of the university, sacred objects, social representation, through the patriarchal village with the idealized community, but also the village that becomes a cursed place (between mnemotopia and xenotopia), and finally to pagan Lithuania. We read the interpretations of individual novels like Kraszewski's “memoir”, telling about the disintegration and merging of the remains of autobiographical, local, regional, and finally the entire area of the former Republic of Poland.

It was financed from the funds of the state budget, granted by the Minister of Science within the NPRH Program for the task entitled “Digital calendar of the life and work of Józef Ignacy Kraszewski (part one: 1812—1863)”.
