A special edition of our Ritual and Religion guided tour is about the Hanukkah Festival of Lights. It celebrates the rededication of the second Jewish temple in Jerusalem.
We also look at the Torah, the Holy Scripture of Judaism. At an early age, children all over the world learn the Hebrew script in order to be able to read the Torah. Visitors learn more about the meaning of Sacred Scripture for Jewish Jews today and its interpretation. A sounding map of the world brings to the attention of Jewish languages that have developed in the diaspora.
In the installation Why Follow the Law, Jews talk about their personal treatment of religious commandments. Objects and everyday objects tell of Jewish life practices such as the Jewish dietary laws (Kashrut) or the law of charity (Zedakah). A flamenco dress, a sewing pillow and a crown provide insights into the diversity within Judaism.
