ul. Kazimierza Wielkiego 19a-21, Wrocław

The film takes viewers to the suburbs of Tokyo in 1987, at the height of the Japanese economic bubble. The main character is 11-year-old Fuki (debuting Yui Suzuki), who struggles with her father's cancer and the emotional distance of her busy mother. Faced with family difficulties, Fuki does not seek help in the adult world, but escapes into the depths of her own fantasy. The girl is fascinated by supernatural phenomena, telepathy and hypnosis, which allows her to forget about reality for a while, but at the same time dangerously blurs the line between children's imagination and the painful truth about her father's illness. As critics point out, Renoir is a subtle study of adolescence in which Chie Hayakawa observes with extraordinary sensitivity the “quiet turbulence” of growing up in the shadow of a crumbling adult world.
