Retransmission: Fiddler on the Roof

The world-famous musical “Fiddler on the Roof” appeals to audiences all over the world with its musical layer and theme. The canvas of the libretto was the novel by Sholem Aleichem “The History of Your Milkmaid”. The action takes place in 1905 in Anatevka, a small town in tsarist Russia, where two communities - Jewish and Russian - live side by side, who try not to get in each other's way. The historical background of the action refers to the nascent communism, the revolution of 1905, and in the final to the mass emigration of the Jewish population. The titular Tevje is a poor milkman, the father of five daughters whom he wants to marry. However, they do not agree with the proposals of the matchmaker and are looking for relationships based on love. Tewje again and again faces a choice, which is more important: living according to tradition or the happiness of her daughters. Meanwhile, news reaches Anatevka that all Jews must leave the town.
