Revisor

One of the most outstanding comedies in the history of theatre — brilliant, relentless and surprisingly timely. The “Reviewer” of Nikolai Gogol, a Ukrainian-born writer, has for almost two centuries remained a penetrating satire on the mechanisms of power, human greed, hypocrisy and fear of losing influence.

The action of the drama begins with a mistake that triggers an avalanche of comic events. In a world where appearances mean more than truth, and everyone tries to save their own position, Gogol exposes the weaknesses of his characters with extraordinary precision. This is what makes “The Revizor” invariably remain one of the most universal and most frequently staged dramas of world literature.

This is Kuba Kowalski's return to Teatr Nowy, who after the success of “Hotel ZNP” is working again with our team. Its realization will be another encounter with a classic that, despite the passage of time, still aptly comments on human behavior and the mechanisms that govern society.
