Officials see him as someone they fear. Others see in him someone who can open the way to power, position, money or another life. Each man develops his own image of the “Inspector General” — and ultimately becomes a victim of his own imagination.

At the center of the art is an exploration of the mechanisms of self-deception, the fear of unmasking, and the astonishing human ability to believe a comfortable lie, even when the truth is right in front of the eyes.

Since then, the world has changed, technology has changed, and the way we view each other has changed.

People, however, are still able to see not the truth — but exactly what they want or are afraid to believe.

Khlestakov here is not a harmless wasteland, accidentally caught in a foreign game. He is a bright, explosive, temperamental and dangerously charming liar. His main weapon is fantasy.
He instantly feels other people's fears and desires and begins to create a new reality around himself. His place is becoming more courageous, aggressive, submissive - and gradually takes over the whole city.
But does Khlestakov really confuse these people?
Or do they want to be enveloped themselves?
Officials see in us who I'm afraid of. The other is the one who is able to discover the path to power, position, money or other life. Each one paints his own image of the “auditor” - and at the end of the thread he becomes a victim of his own imagination.
In the center of the performance is the study of the mechanisms of self-exchange, fear of confusion and the amazing ability of a person to trust in a comfortable bed even when justice is found directly in front of the glass.
Gogol wrote “The Auditor” almost two hundred years ago.
With them, peace has changed, technologies have changed, ways of observing one another for another.
But a man is more capable of seeing not the truth — namely, what he wants or terribly believes.
