The 19th century was an era of dynamic technological, economic and cultural changes, which also significantly influenced the development of money. The exhibition aims to acquaint with the history and popularization of paper money in various countries of Europe, Asia and America, which has become the basis of modern currencies.
The exposition also includes substitute money in the form of vouchers and receipts, issued by estates and enterprises in response to the lack of a small coin, as well as lottery tickets, which are a source of income for both the state and individual lucky ones.
The objects presented are mainly from the collections of the Numismatic Cabinet of the National Academy of Sciences, with many of them being shown to the public for the first time.
