In an era when men are often reduced to an issue in public debate, REXEN explores masculinity, responsibility and love on the album 'The Chauffeur'. As an avowed feminist and critic of toxic masculinity, he also makes a critique here of what he perceives as toxic feminism and a simplistic, polarized gender struggle. The album revolves around the role of protector and the price of always being the one who takes over.
The title 'The Chauffeur' stems from something very specific: REXEN loves to drive. For him, the driver is a simple but decisive figure who says: “I'm taking over. I'll get you from A to B.” In an artistic sense, REXEN sees writing and performing music as just that role.
'The Chauffeur' is created with time, tranquility and respect for the craft and conceived as a whole, where sound, space and presence are as important as the songs themselves. In Studio 3 in DR Koncerthuset, the audience gets the opportunity to experience this universe up close.
