ridgeclub

ridgeclub is a Toronto based saxophonist creating psychedelic jazz.

Ridgeclub uses looper and digital effects to combine successive saxophone parts into multi-layered, elaborate compositions. He is inspired by jazz fusion, including the work of Flying Lotus and Sam Gendel, as well as hip-hop producers such as Clams Casino and Madlib. Growing up in a South Indian home, he also draws on Indian classical music, particularly in terms of melodies and its distinctive solutions.

His first single, “where am i supposed to go?” , released in March, is a slow, moody instrumental piece that captures the mixed emotions of being stuck in the past and finding hope for the future at the same time. Since then, he has released six tracks in which similar emotions return — a sense of hopelessness, regret and a desire for freedom. His fifth single, “do i clench my fists?” , has amassed more than 50 million plays on streaming platforms in six months.
