Rigoletto is the first work of Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), which fully deserves the title of master and established his fame as a composer outside the borders of Italy. The premiere of the work took place on March 11, 1851 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The libretto was created on the canvas of the drama The King Plays by Victor Hugo, created by Francesco Maria Piave. Verdi created unique music for him - gripping, very effective, and at the same time full of expression and emotion. It makes the protagonists of the drama real, living people who love, suffer, envy and revenge.

About the event

Rigoletto is the first work of Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), which fully deserves the title of master and established his fame as a composer outside the borders of Italy. The premiere of the work took place on March 11, 1851 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The libretto was created on the canvas of the drama The King Plays by Victor Hugo, created by Francesco Maria Piave. Verdi created unique music for him - gripping, very effective, and at the same time full of expression and emotion. It makes the protagonists of the drama real, living people who love, suffer, envy and revenge.

Rigoletto moves with the characteristically outlined characters of the main characters: the libertine Prince (seducing another woman every day) and his bitter, mocking clown named Rigoletto, who, it turns out, is a loving father. The galleries of the characters are completed - the paid murderer Sparafucile, his sister Magdalena and a bunch of courtiers plotting intrigues. They are actually anti-heroes who create an abhorrent world. Contrasting with them is the daughter of Rigoletta - innocent and sweet Gilda. Paradoxically, the one who can love selflessly and sacrifice herself for love is touched by tragedy. Despite the shocking theme, the work is full of beautiful phrases - arias, ensembles and choirs.
