Rikas is one of the most interesting representatives of the new wave of German indie pop. Their music sounds like the soundtrack of a summer trip — full of sunny melodies, funky grooves, retro-pop inspiration and distinctive indie energy. Lightness, catchy choruses and exceptional stage freedom have earned the quartet a loyal following not only in Germany, but also on the international stage. Their concerts are famous for their lively atmosphere and direct contact with the audience, which makes every performance turn into a real musical holiday.
The band consists of Sam Baisch (vocals, bass), Chris Ronge (vocals, guitar), Sascha Scherer (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Ferdinand Hübner (vocals, drums, keyboards). The group was formed in 2016 in the Stuttgart region and almost from the beginning attracted attention with a fresh approach to guitar pop. Back in the year of foundation, the musicians won second place in the audience vote at the Baden-Württemberg International Street Music Festival.
The beginnings of Rikas were fully independent. The musicians independently recorded and produced their first songs, which were released on the “Bedroom Tapes” label sold during concerts on hand-prepared CDs. In the following years, the band was associated with Columbia Records (Sony Music Entertainment), where they released their debut album “Showtime” and EPs “Short Stories” and “Goodbye Sunshine”. This latest release was created in collaboration with acclaimed American producer Jonathan Rado, known for his work at Foxygen and his work with The Killers, Weyes Blood and The Lemon Twigs.
