Robert Kasprzycki — Solo Act!

About the event

Robert Kasprzycki — Solo Act!
With the song “Heaven for Rent”, he reached a huge group of listeners, and the entire debut album was a treasure trove of songs, some of which ended up in songbooks, and some still constitute the canon of Polish poetic song to this day. After a long break, which was a continuous concert tour, in the autumn of 2006 “Światod” was released, the premiere of which took place on the air of the Third Polish Radio Program — there, moreover, in Radio Three, you can hear Robert most often.
In the autumn of 2007, Polish Radio Kraków published “Piosenki i Nie” — a “multifunctional multipack”, which is at the same time a volume of poems, a songbook and the cover of an album constituting a recording of a concert recorded in the studio of Krakow Radio. Ten years later, Dalmafon published a re-edition of this album — released separately, as a separate record label. In the autumn of 2014, “Cztery” came to the listeners - full of brilliantly played and sung songs “for adults”. Once again it was possible to see that Kasprzycki can read poems and between poems, that he can write thick and dark, light and sonorous. Among the songs, “Hold on to the Wind, Kochana”, “Martin Eden”, “Like the Ocean” and “Rosemary” stood out, but the rest of the album also contained a very coherent, lyric-rock repertoire.
In the spring of 2021, the album “Gdy tarno w noc” appeared, which is an author's attempt to face the poetry of Marshal Rydz-Śmigły. An attempt, which seems to have been successful, because the poems written in the years of the Second War acquired a coherent sound, and their dark mood perfectly suited the atmosphere of the lockdown, which then crushed the whole world to ice. On December 17, 2021, “Mała Łazienkowa”, (DALMAFON, 2021) a lyrical, nostalgic album, recorded in an intimate composition voice/guitar, was released, the album is a return to the years spent in Śrem in Wielkopolska on Mała Łazienkowa Street — to the places, characters, language and Arcadia of childhood. However, in order to break this banal picture of the Krakow poet, his style also consists of an insensitive sensitivity, a sarcastic view of the world and a self-ironic sense of humor. Therefore, Kasprzycki also became known as the author of texts in the version “for Friends”: Marek Dyjak, Janusz Radek, Michał Łanuszek, as well as for the Artists of Piwnica Pod Baranami: Jacek Wójcicki, Szymon Zychowicz, Dorota Ślązak or Ewa Wnuk.
In Kasprzycki's music you can find traces of many inspirations: “Heaven for Rent” was a mixture of flamenco, pop, jazz, bossan and folk, “Światopod” — a display of rock energy, “Piosenki i Nie” — an excellent reference to the tradition of classical ballad, and “Cztery” a combination of poetic and rock sensibility — Moreover, it is his multilingualism and wide range of interests that define his musical style and create a delicious setting for the lyrics.
However, the real power of Kasprzycki is reflected in the concerts — it is in contact with the audience that he exudes his characteristic charisma to the fullest, and the inexhaustible energy, feeling and sense of humor make the contact with the audience both immediate and long-term — because whoever has been to Kasprzycki's concert almost always returns, and it does not matter whether it is solo concerts or with band — Kasprzycki always plays one hundred percent, and the melange of verbal voltzer, musical jokes, intelligent provocations, games with the audience and solid playing make his concerts become a truly unforgettable experience. He played more than 1500 concerts: solo, on horseback and on foot, with a band, with a big band, at festivals of author's songs, poetry, folk festivals (Colors of Ostrava), rock festivals (Węgorzewo Rock Festival, Woodstock) and even contemporary music festivals (Sacrum Profanum).
He writes, plays, sings, composes, does not intend to stop...
