What happens when rock concert and church service merge?
On a Thursday evening in October, the churches at Amagerbro join Amager Bio with Mysterium — a rock fair with newly written songs about letting go and feeling love. About searching for hope, reaching out one another's hand and feeling that perhaps there is more between heaven and earth than we can put into words.
On the stage stand 10 professional musicians and singers. There's great sound, groovy drums, wild guitar solos and beautiful multi-voiced singing. The music moves from the quiet and the close to the big and explosive — and although the songs are new, several of them are just right to sing along with. In Mysterium, rock concert and church service merge. Old words and rituals meet newly written songs in a musical tale of faith and doubt, hope, community and love.
Because maybe everything doesn't have to be explained.
Maybe something just needs to be felt.
Mysterium is written by pianist, composer and organist Fredrik Mellqvist, who moves between the rhythmic music scene and the church room. The idea for the rock fair originated at Roskilde Festival.
