FAMILY WEEKENDS — “PAINTED WITH THE SUN” THE PROTECTIVE FACE OF THE MOTHER OF GOD

Sun-penetrated stained glass images will brighten up the home space.

In October, the Christian East celebrates the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God - the Intercession of the Mother of God. The holiday is connected with the Byzantine story of the miraculous appearance of the Mother of God in the church of Constantinople. The event shows the power of the protection and intercession of the Mother of God over the people of God. Participants will get acquainted with the images whose iconography was formed on the basis of the narrative describing the revelation of Our Lady to St. Andrew Jurodivo (“The Madman of God”). In the workshop part of the meeting, participants will make paper, colored stained glass windows with a protective image of the Mother of God.
