What if Romeo and Juliet survived? Actor Arek Jakubik tries to answer this question in his original musical performance “Romeo and Juliet live - musical performance of Arkadiusz Jakubik”.
It is a moving tale of love, betrayal, longing and the consequences of everyday choices, inspired by Shakespeare's drama but set in the here and now. Instead of 16th-century Verona — modern Piaseczno near Warsaw. Instead of teenage lovers — Jan and Krystyna Marzec, a couple in their forties, facing mature love, its tensions, cracks and unexpected twists and turns.
On the album “Romeo and Juliet Live”, Jakubik presents ten original works, which are arranged in an emotional, almost serialized narrative. During the performance, the material from the album comes to life in the form of staging: with a live band, video projections and direct interaction with the audience. It is an event on the border of a concert, a theatrical performance and a film story created in the viewer's imagination.
