The Rose is the latest film by Markus Schleinzer with Sandra Hüller in the lead role, awarded the Silver Bear for the title creation.

This is a story about a woman posing as a man in 17th century Protestant Germany. A soldier (Sandra Hüller) arrives in a remote village, claiming to be the heir to an abandoned farm. The stranger initially arouses distrust, but thanks to his documents, impeccable diligence and adopting the established strict rules, he convinces the community. The drama, fueled by the coldness of black and white photographs, takes place in a silent conflict between the exclusion of otherness and the need to preserve one's own identity.
