Pianist‑conductor Sunwook Kim leads the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert that positively sparkles with sunlight. Directing Beethoven’s youthful, radiant First Piano Concerto from the keyboard, he pairs it with the joyous overture to Smetana’s comic opera The Bartered Bride and Dvořák’s folk‑infused Eighth Symphony, a work overflowing with birdsong, village bands, waltzes and exuberant dance, moving from hymn‑like opening to celebratory knees‑up.
Programme: Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 1; Smetana – The Bartered Bride: Overture; Dvořák – Symphony No. 8
Performers: Sunwook Kim (conductor/piano), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Cadogan Hall
