Love, moonlight and the wonders of Egypt: a sparkling French adventure with the RPO. Debussy's Clair de lune is a vision transformed into shimmering poetry; Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice inspired Disney's Fantasia; and Saint-Saëns' piano concerto was written on a Nile cruise, complete with sunlight and even croaking frogs. Pianist Lucas Krupinski stars in the joyous "Egyptian" Concerto, and Nora Gubisch sings Chausson's ecstatic Poème.
Programme: Debussy (arr. Caplet) – Clair de lune; Saint-Saëns – Piano Concerto No. 5, ‘Egyptian’; Chausson – Poème de l'amour et de la mer; Dukas – The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Performers: Alain Altinoglu (conductor); Lucas Krupinski (piano); Nora Gubisch (mezzo-soprano); Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
