Ruby Haunt scourges VEGA in melancholic dreampop
Since their debut album Hurt (2015), Los Angeles duo Ruby Haunt have delivered atmospheric dreampop and mellow slowcore. With low-key vocals, expressive guitars and slow-building arrangements, the duo have created a hypnotic sound that feels both intimate and expansive.
In July this year Ruby Haunt released the first taste of their upcoming album Paper Halo (2026) with the single “Big Room”. The single is based on the feeling of longing and searching for something that always seems just out of reach, and the number sets the tone for an album about memories, changes and the places we return to in search of ourselves.
Though Ruby Haunt's music often moves along the dark paths of melancholy, the duo themselves aren't always as heavy-handed.
In an interview with Los Angeles-based radio station Hyde FM, they were asked about their creative process and told:
“I think we are much more lighthearted than maybe the music would let on. We are always joking around or taking breaks to do something outside.”
Behind the heaviness of the music, there is also a more carefree side. At Paper Halo, you can explore both the dark and the lighter moments that lurk in the dreamy universe of Ruby Haunt.
