About the event

Wrocław premiere of the play directed by Palina Dabravoska

The year 2063. Survival has become a ritual. In Block 33, three women — grandmother, mother and daughter — are responsible for the community of survivors of a global environmental disaster.

In Block 33, you live by silence — you can't speak a forbidden language here.

The next morning comes if the day before has not been given a name that is associated with loss, rebellion and suffering.

In a concrete space saturated with silence, the only protection is a range of rituals: whispers, songs and rites passed down from generation to generation as an exclusively accessible form of security.

When a sound begins to sound in the apartment, unidentifiable or unexplainable, order begins to break. The fear that the family has learned to control returns and the youngest of the leaders must decide whether to inherit it along with the rest of the family inheritance or follow what she calls her.

“Roar” is a play about a community built on fear and love. About surviving the apocalypse and personal tragedies, as well as an illusory sense of control. It is a story of mothers and daughters set on the verge of ritual, climate catastrophe and the elusive.

What happens when someone in the family begins to hear more than they are allowed to?

Does salvation mean survival at all costs or the courage to be transformed?
