How to tell a story using a drawing? How to combine images into a comic story? We invite you to a workshop with Marek Lachowicz — comic book creator, screenwriter and animation director.

During the meeting, participants will learn the basics of drawing and creating comics, using the knowledge and experience of the author. This will be an opportunity to develop creativity, experiment with the image and look for your own ways of telling stories.

The workshop will open a series of events accompanying the exhibition presented at the time in the Baltic Centre of Culture in Gdańsk. A common theme of the meetings will be neurodiversity. We want to create an open and welcoming space for people with different needs — one where you can learn new perspectives, develop interests and participate in culture on your own terms.

The program of the series will also include a discussion panel with the participation of Ida Tymińska and Magdalena Lipowicz and a concert by the band Remont Pomp, combining the sounds of ethnic instruments with experimental music.

Marek Lachowicz — creator of comics, screenwriter, director and storyboardist, known for his absurd humor and author's comic and animated series.

The author of the series “Man Paroovka”, from which such characters as the Mustache Gang, Grand Banda and Piotrek Piotrek originate. He debuted on the pages of the magazine “Produkt”. Winner of the awards of the International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz for the comics “Grand Banda” and “Aircraft”, drawn for the script by Daniel Gizicki. In addition to the albums released by Kultura Gniewu, he published in the press, zines and the Internet. In recent years, his author's trilogy “The Ultimate Adventure of Piotrka Czopka” has been published.

Since 2012 he has been working on animated productions. He is the creator of the series “Grand Banda”, based on his own comics, for which he wrote scripts and directed part of the episodes. He also collaborated on the series “Wilq”, “Basia”, “Mami Fatale” and “Hug Me”. He was the head of the storyboard team on the Annie Award-nominated series “Odo”. He currently directs the series “Frycek Mały Chopin” and “Kocia Szajka”.
