In “Rare Species”, the starting point is one of the favorite places of science fiction: the laboratory. On the stage, three people - one woman and two men - alternately perform the tasks of scientists and animators of beings subjected to observations and experiments. ABSURD — Advanced Biologies Special Unit — Research and Development — is the name of the organization they work for. A promising acronym; you can meet truly unique creatures in this lab.
But in the end, who is watching who in this laboratory scene?
“Rare Species” is inspired by the work of Stanisław Lem. Over time, the show became independent and went its own way, which reflects the modern anxieties of humanity. From the unusual universe of this author, a sense of existential absurdity has been preserved, capable of touching without exception people, cyborgs and other species.
In this international project of theaters from Poland and Portugal, the working language is English (in the play with Polish subtitles). Even in such tightly controlled environments as laboratories, there is always (fortunately) something that gets out of control and loses (and gains) in translation. This became an excuse to create certain sequences of performance and to recognize the theater as a space for experimentation and a desire to reconnect with our genre. A rare species.
In Rare Species, we start from one of science fiction's favorite places: the laboratory. On stage, three humans, one woman and two men, take turns performing the tasks of scientists and manipulators of the creatures that are under observation and being subjected to experiments. ABSUR-- Advanced Biology Special Unit - Research and Development is the name of the organization they work for. A promising acronym, in this laboratory it will be possible to find some very special creatures.

Especies Rares was initially inspired by the work of Stanislaw Lem. La creazione è autonomo e seguito la propria, che, in alcuni modo, anche riprodurre le concerti correnti dell'umanità. De ce auteur d'une universe extraordinaire, nous une sense d'absurdité existentiale, capable of affecting indiscriminately humans, cyborgs, and other species. Addition to this ontological unease, which often manifests itself in an unsettling humor, are the (often clumsy) attempts to understand and modify the cosmos, as a whole and in its infinitesimal parts, through science and technology.
In this international partnership between Poland and Portugal, English (with Polish subtitles in the show) is the working language. Even in highly controlled environments such as laboratories, there is (fortunately) always something that escapes and is lost (and gained) in translation. Questo è un pretext per la creazione di seguenti in una partita e la reaffirmation di teatro come un posto di experimentazione e desiderata di riunione con i nostri specie. A rare species.

But after all, who observes who in this laboratory stage?
Rare Species is initially inspired by the work of Stanislaw Lem. Creation became autonomous and followed its own paths that, in some way, also reflect current concerns of humanity. From this author's extraordinary universe we have preserved a sense of existential absurdity capable of indiscriminately affecting humans, cyborgs and other species. To this ontological concern, which often manifests itself in a disconcerting mood, are added the (often disastrous) attempts to understand and modify the cosmos, in the whole and in the infinitesimal parts, through science and technology.

There is, even in very controlled environments like laboratories, (fortunately) always something that escapes and is lost (and gained) in translation. This was the pretext for the creation of some sequences in the play and the reaffirmation of the theater as a place of experimentation and desire to meet our species again. Rare species.
