About the event

The exhibition presents contemporary sculptural practices, for which the starting point becomes the loss of stability of form, treated not as a metaphor of crisis or a harbinger of catastrophe, but as a source of creative tension. What was once considered the goal of sculptural action, i.e. durability, closure and perfection of the final result, today seems insufficient. In a world that is losing ground, sculpture does not pretend to be a foundation. Form does not disappear, but becomes a temporary arrangement of processes, tensions and relationships.

The exhibition gathers the works of artists who treat sculpture as a system of forces: flows and changes, tensions and relationships between the process and the solid. References to biological forms and the human body draw attention to sculpture as an impermanent structure, prone to pressure, wear and modifications. The smooth transitions between artificial and natural materials, organic shape and form inspired by mechanical production emphasize the metamorphic potential of matter. It is not a passive material, but bears traces of origin, use and contact with bodies. The exhibition brings out these qualities, framing sculpture as a statement materially situated in the museum space. The objects work with the architecture of the building, interact with the light and movement of the audience, pour into the corridors, the staircase and other common spaces. They do not create a linear story, but a temporary scenography for bodies and objects in motion — a scaffolding for adventurous relationships.

Isabelle Andriessen, Patricia Ayres, Olga Balema, Beatrice Bonino, Manuel Burgener, Giulia Cenci, Phoebe Collings-James, June Crespo, Michael Dean, Matyáš Fiala, Zuza Golińska, Alexandra Hunts, Agata Ingarden, Edith Karlson, Kaarel Kurismaa, Mónica Mays, Gizela Michele meet in this common field of action Nargez Mohammadi, Anna Myszkowiak, Jack O'Brien, B. Ingrid Olson, Dominika Olszowy, Katarzyna Przezwańska, Jessi Reaves, Ken Sortais, Teresa Solar Abboud, Iza Tarasewicz, Tatiana Trouvé, Kaari Upson, Dominique White, Nicole Wermers.

Their works reinforce the idea of art, the strength of which is born from inconstancy, susceptibility to change. Instead of a catastrophic narrative, an energizing practice of reorganization emerges: connecting the dispersed, sustaining the fragile, and creating the conditions for further transformations.
