We are at the end of the project “CKiSZ in the rhythm of the inhabitants. Diagnosis and local initiatives as an impetus for change” from the program House of Culture+ Edition 2026. Thanks to the co-financing of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, our grantees have already successfully implemented three initiatives. We have a fourth, final project ahead of us. Joint activities will soon bring an extremely creative, artistic effect. Near the Centre for Culture and Art there will be a symbolic stand - the Oak of the Community, the result of its roots in Połaniec. However, before that happens, today we invite organized groups and individuals to participate in a sculptural workshop meeting with folk artist Andrzej Kozłowski.
About the event
Andrzej Kozłowski (born 1953) began to sculpt in 1970, observing that the shaping of form in wood comes easily to him and brings a lot of joy. He speaks mainly on secular themes illustrating the everyday life of villages and small towns, and he also willingly sculpts religious themes, especially figures of saints, but also roadside chapels. He is also a performer of traditional folk toys and colorful birds. Constant work on his own style, extraordinary diligence resulted in the recognition of his work by professionals and recipients of folk art. Currently, he is one of the most interesting sculptors of Kielce. He actively participates in exhibitions and competitions for folk art, the artist's works are in the collections of the Kielce Village Museum and the National Museum in Kielce.
On October 19, from 10:00 to 17:00 we invite you to a meeting with wood, tradition and folk imagination. This is an opportunity to get to know the artist's work more closely, look at his workshop and discover how unusual sculptures, full of character, are created from a piece of wood.
Workshop hours for individual groups can be arranged at 158650917, ext. 12, or in person in the Impresariat CKIsz room. We invite you to discover together the local tradition and learn about the crafts in which wood takes on a new life!
The meeting will take place as part of the initiative “Rooted in Połaniec — Community Oak”. Ministry of Culture and National Heritage National Cultural Centre
