REASON: Hope, fear and longing in the new United States. Lecture with Clement Kjersgaard

“In recent years, we in Europe — and in Denmark — have spent a tremendous amount of time dealing with Trump. But there is much about the United States that we still find difficult to understand — even though a number of the trends that have changed the United States are in full swing to transform our own societies.

At the age of 16, Clement went to Hong Kong, where he took his baccalaureate and was then admitted to the University of Oxford, where he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics. In 2002 he founded the news magazine RÆSON — which today is bigger than ever — and in 2021 the history magazine ERA, which was received with 6 hearts of 6 in Politiken. Since 2004, he has worked for DR, as an anchorman on, among others, “The Debate, “Deadline”, numerous talk shows and programs on international affairs, including “The World After the Election” (about the United States, 2024), “The Road to Berlin” (2025, about the German election), and most recently “The World Situation with Clement” (2025).

The lecture is organized in collaboration with the magazines RÆSON and ÆRA, which Clement publishes, and which ifbm. the event has a special offer for library users: www.raeson.dk/offer
